With Marvel’s massive, years-spanning plan to roll out its comics universe on the big screen, it’s hardly surprising to learn that another movie featuring one of its most popular characters is in the works. Though it seems early for the company to be working up another outing for Chris Evans’ Captain America given that his latest, The Winter Soldier, is only just about to hit cinemas, according to Variety the studio is doing just that.

The more surprising and, if the positive early word on The Winter Soldier is any indication, happy news is that directors Joe and Anthony Russo appear likely to pull off a feat so far only achieved by Jon Favreau and Joss Whedon: returning to direct a second film.

Of course, with the first sequel still a couple of months away from screens, no negotiations have begun and no deals have been struck, at least formally. But Variety’s sources say that Kevin Feige and co are thrilled with the film so far and have begun early talks about the focus of any third film. There is so far no release date or other details to report, beyond the fact that Evans' multi-film contract should guarantee his presence.

In related Cap news, Steve Rogers will be part of another story (besides his planned return with the rest of the Avengers in Age Of Ultron). Comics veteran Peter David has written a prelude Infinite Comic to the film, set shortly before it begins.

If you were wondering why you haven't seen Snowpiercer yet, i think i have the answer.^^
I stumbled over this article by accident but now everything makes sense (at least to me ;D )

Bong Joon-Ho's Snowpiercer, starring Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, and Octavia Spencer, is a hit in South Korea and France, where it's already been released, and it's getting beyond-rave reviews. So why does Harvey Weinstein want to release a different version in the U.S. and beyond? (The Weinstein Company has distribution rights in North America, U.K., South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.) Good question. Ever since word got out that Weinstein wasn't supporting the director's cut — and had tested a version with twenty minutes chopped out — fans as well as the filmmakers have expressed dismay. As one reviewer noted, "To alter [the film] would be something close to vandalism."

In addition to cutting some scenes, Weinstein wants the film to have a voice-over at the end of the film. In the original script, voice-over narration from one child character kicks off the film, and a voice-over narration from a separate child provides the ending. "Originally, in the very first script, an Asian girl was the beginning part," Bong said. "And the very last part of the movie was a black boy. But during the production, I deleted it, because I didn't think it was necessary. That was before Harvey saw the movie. That was before Harvey picked up this movie."

Bong still feels that the narration is unnecessary, and says that the "very good reaction" to his cut helps bolster this. Also, he noted, when Weinstein tested a cut-down rough version in July in New Jersey, they did another test screening, with the director's cut, and the score for his own cut "was much higher." "I understand their situation, their point of view," Bong said. "They want to make it easier for the audience to understand the ending. But at the same time, I love a little bit more ambiguity."

Negotiations are continuing, Bong said, and he's confident that with the reviews, the box office support, and the test screening results, "the U.S. [release] is going to play out smoothly." "Many things happen in six months, and maybe ten years from now, I will write a book about this situation, this very funny situation," Bong said. "But for now, I feel safe. Quite safe."

Since ""The Winter Soldier" takes place after the events in "The Avengers" -- and some 70 years after WWII -- many of the original film's players won't be included.

Filming locations of Cap 2 and start of production

Despite rumors that the  Marvel superhero sequel "Captain America: The Winter soldier" would be shooting in Europe (as the franchise's first film did), it was revealed today that it will instead shoot primarily at Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studios in Los Angeles.

Stages are reportedly already being built  for the film directed by Anthony and Joe Russo ("Community") and featuring Chris Evans as the title hero first seen in the "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "The Avengers." It's been previously reported that the film will begin production in April.

"Iron Man," its sequel, and "Thor" were all partially shot at Raleigh.

"Winter Soldier" will still likely shoot several key scenes in Europe, plus some location work in Cleveland and New Mexico. The film also features the return of previous Marvel actors Sebastian Stan (as The Winter Soldier), Cobie Smulders, Toby Jones, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson, plus newcomers Anthony Mackie (as Facon) and Frank Grillo.

In movie years 2014's “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is not that far away. Production is scheduled to start next spring and so casting is still in full swing. Obviously Chris Evans is back as Cap, Sebastian Stan must be back as the titular James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes turned The Winter Soldier, Scarlett Johansson will reprise her role as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent the Black Widow (who met Captain America in “The Avengers”) and Anthony Mackie will appear as The Falcon

"Hurt Locker" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" actor Anthony Mackie is in negotiations to star in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," the April 2014 superhero flick starring Chris Evans as the titular star-spangled superhero. If casting pans out, Mackie will play Sam Wilson, the superhero best known as the Falcon, Heat Vision reports.

In the comics, Falcon is a longtime friend and partner of Captain America's. As his befitting of his codename, Falcon can communicate with birds telepathically, and he also wears a suit that allows him to fly. He's been a pal of Cap's since comics published in the 1970s, and has recently played a big role in the espionage-heavy stories told in Ed Brubaker's current run on "Captain America" for Marvel Comics.

Mackie's potential casting as Falcon comes just weeks after the actor gave an interview expressing his desire to play Black Panther in a Marvel movie.

"I love Black Panther and I love the story behind it. It would be cool to be a part of it," he said. He told another outlet: "If Black Panther is made into a movie, I would love for it to be along the lines of Batman."

It's not Black Panther, but Falcon is still a great get for the promising young actor. Between confirmation of the Winter Soldier, the strongly implied presence of Black Widow and now Falcon's involvement as well, the "Captain America" sequel is filling itself out with enough superheroes to make "The Avengers" jealous. And who knows? Perhaps it'll be a "Hurt Locker" reunion for Mackie as well, if Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye gets in on the action as has been rumored.
